BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. The trade turnover between the US and Kazakhstan increased by almost 40 percent and amounted to $3.1 billion in 2022, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said at a meeting with US Ambassador to Kazakhstan Daniel Rosenblum, Trend reports via the PM's office.
According to the PM, Kazakhstan sees considerable potential for further increase in trade volumes and is ready to increase exports in 90 commodity items by $800 million.
Moreover, it was noted at the meeting that the US is one of the leaders in terms of direct investment in Kazakhstan. The amount of US investment received last year nearly doubled to reach $5.1 billion, levels achieved before the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, as the Kazakh prime minister noted, Kazakhstan considers the US a strategic partner in both bilateral and multilateral formats. Currently, Kazakhstan has more than 900 joint ventures running successfully.
In turn, the US ambassador noted that there is great potential for the development of Kazakhstan-US relations. He added that about 20 US companies, representing a wide range of sectors, plan to form a business mission and visit Kazakhstan this summer.
