BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan has prepared a draft order on the approval of the wholesale prices for commercial gas, according to which the marginal wholesale prices will increase by an average of 15 percent, Trend reports via the ministry.
With an increase in marginal wholesale prices for commercial gas by 15 percent, depending on the region, the increase in prices will range between 1.1 ($0.0025) and 3.87 Kazakh tenge ($0.0086) without VAT.
The increase in wholesale prices for commercial gas is due to a rise in the cost of commercial gas supplies, a decrease in commercial gas production from 33.1 billion cubic meters in 2019 to 27.8 billion cubic meters in 2022, and a growth in commercial gas consumption in the domestic market from 15 billion cubic meters in 2019 to 19.3 billion cubic meters by the end of 2022
The draft order provides for the establishment of wholesale prices for commercial gas on the domestic market for the period from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2028.
The document should be approved no later than May 15 in accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 20 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Gas and Gas Supply".
