BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Kazakhstan proposes to increase export of its products to Qatar by 60 commodity items in the amount of about $243 million, Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said, Trend reports.
He made the remark during a meeting with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, which was held on the sidelines of the third Qatar Economic Forum in Doha.
Smailov underlined the significance of Qatar as a crucial political and economic partner for Kazakhstan within the Arab world. This importance is clearly reflected in the strong indicators of mutual trade and investments: in just the first quarter of this year, the volume of bilateral trade has increased 17.7 times.
Furthermore, Qatari investments in Kazakhstan experienced an impressive three-fold increase in 2022.
He also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the Qatar Investment Authority and Samruk-Kazyna state funds and plans to create a joint direct investment fund.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on his part, confirmed the readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation across all priority areas.
Qatar Economic Forum is being held in Doha on May 23-25.
