ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 22. Kazakhstan's second-tier banks and individual non-bank exchange offices sold 2,787 gold bars with a total weight of 111.1 kilograms in July 2023, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the number of gold bars sold in Kazakhstan during the reporting period decreased by 10 percent compared to the previous month (2,791 bars in June 2023).
The program, launched by Kazakhstan in 2017, envisages selling and buying out refined gold bars for the population. A total of 135,183 gold bars with a total weight of 4.6 tons have been sold since the program was launched.
The largest volumes of sales of dimensional ingots in July 2023 fell in the following regions: Almaty (1,275 pieces, 46 percent), Shymkent (756 pieces, 27 percent), and Astana (151 pieces, 5 percent).
Since the beginning of the program, second-tier banks and individual non-bank exchange offices have accepted 23,710 dimensional bars with a total weight of 623 kilograms for repurchase, which is 18 percent of the total volume of sales of dimensional bars.
