ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 12. Kazakhstan has approved comprehensive plans for the socio-economic development of the cities of Zhanatas, Karatau and Ridder for 2023-2027, Trend reports.
Previously, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan adopted Comprehensive Plans for the cities of Altay, Arkalyk, Balkhash, Zhitikara, Lisakovsk, Serebryansk and Stepnogorsk.
The comprehensive plans provide for the implementation of: construction and repair of healthcare, education, sports, engineering infrastructure, SMEs, agro-industrial complex, purchase of modern equipment.
The government allocated 1.7 trillion tenge (about $3.68 billion) for the implementation of all these goals.
There are 89 cities in Kazakhstan, 27 of them are single-industry towns with a population of 1.4 million people. They produce about 40 percent of industrial output.
In order to diversify the economy, 14 “anchor” projects worth 214.3 billion tenge (about $463.6 million) are being implemented in 5 single-industry towns, creating 2,806 jobs.
