ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 22. Kazakhstan's trade turnover with the UK amounted to $1.8 billion in 2022, Trend reports.
This was stated during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu and British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs James Cleverly.
As Nurtleu noted, Kazakhstan and the UK have the potential to expand mutual trade.
The parties discussed current issues in the development of Kazakh-British cooperation and exchanged views on key aspects of the international agenda.
In turn, Cleverly confirmed his intention to strengthen a comprehensive partnership with Astana and expressed his readiness to intensify contacts at all levels.
The UK is one of the key trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan. The volume of British investment amounted to more than $16 billion. About 550 companies with British capital are represented on the Kazakh market.
Kazakhstan’s foreign trade turnover in 2022 increased to $134.4 billion and exceeded the pre-pandemic level. The trade surplus was $34.3 billion. The export volume reached $84.4 billion. Predictably, oil and metals became the main growth points. Revenues from oil sales by 2022 increased by 51 percent to $46.9 billion (56 percent of total exports), copper by 15 percent to $3.7 billion, ferroalloys by 51 percent to $3.4 billion, uranium by 95 percent to $3.4 billion, and copper ores by 51 percent to $2.4 billion. Also, high growth rates were shown by the supply of wheat (+37 percent), petroleum products (+73 percent), coal (2.4 times), zinc (+43 percent), sulfur (+91 percent), etc.
