ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 13. Kazakhstan's QazaqGaz (national gas company) launched a new gas field, Anabay, in the Moyynkum district of the Jambyl region, Trend reports.

Exploration and Production QazaqGaz LLP developed the field, reactivated three drilled wells, and also built the Anabay-Zharkum gas pipeline. At the moment, all construction and installation work has been completed.

It is expected that in 2023 gas production at the field will be 6.5 million cubic meters, and in 2028 the production level will reach 44 million cubic meters. Gas volumes from the Anabay field will be used to meet the needs of the domestic market.

According to Almas Kuandykov, General Director of Exploration and Production at QazaqGaz LLP, the new Anabay field has recoverable reserves of 4 billion cubic meters. The investments in this project amounted to 12 billion tenge (about $25.7 million). There are plans for further drilling in the field.

In turn, Chairman of the Board of QazaqGaz Sanzhar Zharkeshov noted that QazaqGaz is actively working to expand its resource base. "In order to increase its own gas resource base, QazaqGaz is actively working to obtain licenses for geological exploration of subsoil and new areas," he said.

Gas production volume in Kazakhstan for 2022 amounted to 53.3 billion cubic meters, or 103.1 percent of the 2022 plan. Commercial gas production amounted to 27.8 billion cubic meters, or 94 percent of the plan.

Domestic consumption of commercial gas in Kazakhstan amounted to 19.3 billion cubic meters, or 107.2 percent of the 2022 plan; exports were 4.6 billion cubic meters, or 85.1 percent of the plan.

The volume of liquefied petroleum gas production (supplied to the domestic market) amounted to 2.8 million tons, or 98 percent of the plan.
