ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 5. Kazakhstan must reduce existing barriers as much as possible to increase cargo flows along international road routes on the territory of Kazakhstan and ensure the rapid passage of goods, Prime Minister Alikhan Samilov said during a government meeting, Trend reports.

"These include long procedures for processing documents and crossing borders, undeveloped infrastructure, poor organization of transportation, and much more. This is exactly what participants in the cargo transportation process are now complaining about," he said.

According to him, developed road cargo transportation directly affects all sectors of the economy. Today, 8 international highway corridors with a total length of about 13,000 km pass through the territory of Kazakhstan. Among them are Western Europe - Western China, North - South, TRACECA and others.

Smailov noted that cargo inspection and document verification also take a long time. These issues can be resolved by introducing digital solutions and integrating information systems.

At the same time, according to the PM, the development of bonded warehouses is required, which are the most important infrastructure links for cargo distribution.

This will help relieve congestion at checkpoints and also increase cargo flow, he said.

The volume of cargo transportation by road in Kazakhstan amounted to 5.5 million tons from January through September 2023. Thus, compared to the same period in 2022, the volume of transportation increased by 22 percent.
