ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 19. Kazakhstan will purchase 25 aircraft in accordance with existing signed agreements by the end of 2025, said Transport Minister Marat Karabayev at a government meeting, Trend reports.
Thus, the number of aircraft will increase to 124, and the number of seats will increase by 32 percent.
In 2023, Kazakh Airlines bought 10 aircraft. As a result, the capacity of seats increased by 26 percent, up to 15,200 seats.
As the minister noted, an increase in the number of aircraft will help reduce the cost of air tickets and the level of flight delays.
In addition, in order to develop the cargo transportation segment, three new cargo air carriers are in the creation stage.
As previously known, Kazakhstan's SCAT Airlines has signed a contract for the supply of seven new Boeing 737-MAX 8 aircraft to expand its fleet. The contract with Boeing was concluded as part of the 18th international aerospace exhibition, Dubai Airshow 2023, held in Dubai.
Replenishing the fleet with seven more new Boeing 737-MAX 8s will increase the airline's carrying capacity, which in turn will have a positive impact on the punctuality of flights and the expansion of the route network.
Currently, the aircraft fleet of SCAT Airlines comprises 37 planes. In 2022 and 2023, nine new aircraft of the Boeing 737 type were purchased.
