Kazakhstan to extend gas supply to Jambyl region

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 25. Kazakhstan's Jambyl region is one of the leaders in the country in terms of gas supply level, said Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Alibek Zhamauov, Trend reports.

As he noted, gas supply level in the region is 90.2 percent or 1.1 million people.

According to the Alibek Zhamauov, in this direction, 5 billion tenge (about $10.9 million) was allocated from the republican budget to the executive power of Jambyl region in 2023 for the implementation of 6 projects.

In addition, for 2024, 3.3 billion tenge (about $7.2 million) is provided for the implementation of 5 projects. Of this, 600 million tenge (about $1.3 million) will be used to begin gas supply to 9 settlements in the Moyynkum district.

As a result of the above projects, 14 settlements with a population of about 39,000 people will have access to natural gas.

At the end of 2022, the level of gas supply to Kazakhstan was 59 percent. Some 142 gas projects worth 96.1 billion tenge (about 201.4 million) were implemented in the regions, which made it possible to provide natural gas to 285,000 citizens in 107 rural settlements.

In 2023, it is planned to increase the share of gas supply to the population to 60 percent with the implementation of 86 projects for a total investment of 74 billion tenge (about $155.1 million).

This will provide gas supplies to, 167,000 citizens in 56 rural settlements. As a result, 11.4 million citizens of the republic will have access to gas.
