ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 26. In Kazakhstan in 2023, approximately 10,700 roadways of republican and local importance were repaired or built, Trend reports.
According to the official data, 753 billion tenge (about $1.64 billion) are provided for these purposes, which is 14 percent more than last year.
Three large projects - BAKAD, Kandyagash - Makat and Usharal - Dostyk were completed in 2023.
Along with this, work was intensively carried out on 6 long-term construction projects: Taldikorgan - Ust-Kamenogorsk, Karaganda - Almaty, Merke - Burylbaytal, Aktobe - Kandyagash and Atyrau - Astrakhan. Along them, in addition to bypasses of populated areas, traffic is open for 923 km.
At the same time, work is being carried out to major overhaul the roads Kaztalovka – Janibek and Unige – Bisen – Saykhin in the West Kazakhstan region with a length of 245 km. Currently, 220 km have been put into operation. Full completion of the work is expected in 2024.
In addition, from 2024 to 2030, it is planned to implement a number of priority road projects with a total length of more than 9,000 km.
Moreover, in 2024, it is planned to begin work on the projects Aktobe – Ulgaysyn – Kyzylorda, Karaganda – Zhezkazgan, Bypass of Saryagash city, Kyzylorda – Zhezkazgan.
Meanwhile, today, 8 international highway corridors with a total length of about 13,000 km pass through the territory of Kazakhstan. Among them are Western Europe - Western China, North - South, TRACECA and others.
The volume of cargo transportation by road in Kazakhstan amounted to 5.5 million tons from January through September 2023. Thus, compared to the same period in 2022, the volume of transportation increased by 22 percent.
