ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 23. Investments in fixed capital in Kazakhstan's Jambyl region amounted to 517.2 billion tenge (about $1.15 billion), which is 17.3 percent more than in 2022, said the head of the region Yerbol Karashukeyev, Trend reports.
He made the remark during a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to him, in the region there is an increase in the field of transport by 5.2 percent, construction by 18.7 percent, communications by 7.2 percent, and housing commissioning by 4.7 percent.
Yerbol Karashukeyev noted that 13 new production facilities worth 75 billion tenge (about $167.5 million) were launched in the region in 2023. This year, another 28 projects worth over 180 billion tenge (about $402 million) are expected to be launched.
In general, the investment pool of projects today includes 69 production facilities worth 2.3 trillion tenge (about 5.13 billion). Implementation of these projects will provide jobs for 5,500 people.
He also pointed out that small and medium-sized businesses manufacture products worth 864.9 billion tenge (about $1.93 billion).
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's economic growth amounted to 5.1 percent in 2023. Last year, the volume of investments in fixed capital increased by 13.7 percent and amounted to $39.5 billion, while over the first nine months of 2023, $19.7 billion of foreign direct investment was attracted.
