ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 26. A new bitumen kiln was launched at the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant in Kazakhstan, Trend reports.

As the head of KazMunayGas JSC (Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company), which owns the plant, Magzum Mirzagaliyev noted that this project is the first stage in the modernization of bitumen capacities.

"The launch of the kiln will allow increasing the bitumen production capacity at one of the oldest petrochemical enterprises in the country, the Pavlodar plant, from 45,000 to more than 52,000 tons per month. Thus, KazMunayGas strengthens its leading position in the market of high-quality bitumen producers," he said.

In addition to higher economic performance, the new kiln will bring significant environmental improvements. The installed equipment will allow for a reduction in fuel gas and liquid fuel combustion to minimum levels.

Moreover, as a result of the implementation of the new installation, a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions is expected.

To note, bitumen production in the KazMunayGas group is also carried out by the Aktau bitumen plant (CASPI BITUM LLP). Currently, together with Chinese partners, KMG is implementing a project to expand the capacity of CASPI BITUM from 1 to 1.5 million tons of oil per year, which will increase the production of road bitumen at the enterprise from the current 500,000 to 750,000 tons per year.
