Kazakhstan in talks on oil transportation via Baku-Supsa pipeline, minister says

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 19. Kazakhstan is analyzing the possibility of using the Baku-Supsa pipeline, which has a throughput capacity of 5 million tons per year, said the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almassadam Satkaliyev in an interview with the Romanian Adevural, Trend reports.

"In general, discussions in this direction continue with all interested parties," the minister noted.

Earlier, a source in the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan reported that the issue of considering the possibility of transporting Kazakh oil via the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline in the amount of up to 3 million tons per year is being discussed with the Azerbaijani side.

Meanwhile, in 2023, Kazakhstan transported 1.39 million tons of oil through Baku, and all this oil went through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline.

Back in 2022, Azerbaijan offered Kazakhstan the use of the Baku-Supsa pipeline and could allocate a share of up to 1.5 million tons in the BTC pipeline to maintain the structure regarding the BTC Blend.

The capacity of Baku-Supsa is 5-6 million tons of oil per year.
