ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 22. The Italian company Lumacheria Italiana plans to launch farming snails on an industrial scale in the Jambyl region of Kazakhstan in 2024, Trend reports.

This was stated during a meeting between the adviser to the head of the regional executive power, Dauletkozha Mamyrov, and representatives of the Italian company.

The company's representatives noted that the choice of the Jambyl region is due to favorable natural and climatic conditions, which make it possible to grow snails in industrial quantities at four times cheaper prices than on the world market.

It was highlighted that the project will be carried out in collaboration with the local company, Meragro. The Italian company suggests breaking down the project into stages: establishing snail cultivation in the region, building an incubator, starting feed manufacturing, and building a snail meat processing factory.

In the initial stages, the investment volume will be over 2 million euros. Also, the company is ready to train local farmers.

To note, the Jambyl region will be the first region in Central Asia where snails will be grown on an industrial scale.
