ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 23. Kazakhstan significantly increased its exports of vegetable oil to Uzbekistan, said Aidarbek Saparov, the Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, during a meeting of agriculture leaders from the Organization of Turkic States, Trend reports.
According to him, in 2023, Kazakhstan exported 157,000 tons of vegetable oil to Uzbekistan, which is 59,000 tons, or 60 percent more than in 2022.
It was also noted that Kazakhstan has more than tripled its exports of rapeseed, safflower, and sunflower oils during the last three years.
According to the Kazakhstan Bureau of National Statistics, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amounted to $288.4 million in January 2024, which is a 0.1 percent decrease compared to the previous year ($309.6 million).
Kazakhstan's exports to Uzbekistan in January 2024 reached $222.7 million, declining by 0.4 percent compared to the previous year ($254.5 million), while imports from Uzbekistan totaled $65.6 million, which is a 0.3 percent increase year-on-year ($55.1 million).
