BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. The volume of Russian gas transported through the territory of Kazakhstan amounted to 1.114 billion cubic meters from January through February 2024, a source at Kazakhstan's Energy Ministry told Trend.
"From January through February 2024, 1.114 billion cubic meters of Russian gas were transited to Uzbekistan," the ministry said.
This volume almost reached the transited Russian gas for the entire 2023 - 1.28 billion cubic meters.
At the same time, the source named the volume of Russian gas that is planned to be transited for the entire year 2024.
"As part of the signed agreement on strategic cooperation between Gazprom and the government of Kazakhstan, an increase in the annual volume of Russian gas transportation to Uzbekistan was determined from 1.28 billion cubic meters in 2023 to 3.8 billion cubic meters in 2024," the source noted.
Meanwhile, Russia's gas supplies to Uzbekistan are planned to quadruple in 2026—up to 11 billion cubic meters per year.
"Last year, with the participation of the president of the state, the transit of Russian gas in the amount of up to 3 billion cubic meters per year was initiated through our country's territory to Uzbekistan," Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev said at a board meeting of the Energy Ministry.
