Kazakhstan sees increase in tourist flow in 2023

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 8. Over 1.084 million tourists visited Kazakhstan in 2023, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Trend reports.

"This is 156,800 more than a year ago, an increase of 17 percent compared to 2022 (928,000). The number of domestic tourists in 2023 increased by 647,500 people and amounted to 7.054 million. This figure is higher than the pre-pandemic level by 1.767 million people (2019 – 5.286 million)," he said.

As he noted, the increase in the number of tourists confirms the attractiveness of the natural beauty, cultural heritage, and hospitality of Kazakhstan.

"We are also actively developing tourism infrastructure, including the construction of new hotels, the development of a transport network, and the expansion of tourist routes. Our goal is to make travel to Kazakhstan accessible and comfortable for every visitor," he said.

Meanwhile, investments in the amount of $4 billion were attracted to the tourism industry of Kazakhstan from 2020 through 2022. In 2022, the volume of investments amounted to 513.3 billion tenge (about $1.07 billion). In addition, over the indicated period, more than 400 tourist facilities were built in the country.
