ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 15. The volume of Kazakhstan's exports amounted to $12.2 billion from January through February 2024, which in nominal terms is 0.4 percent more than for the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
According to the data from the country's Bureau of National Statistics, the main goods that accounted for the bulk of exports were crude oil and crude oil products obtained from bituminous minerals, accounting for 59.8 percent of total exports.
In addition, 5.8 percent of exports were refined copper and unprocessed copper alloys, 4 percent - copper ores and concentrates, 2.7 percent - radioactive chemical elements and radioactive isotopes, and 2.1 percent - ferroalloys.
At the same time, the volume of imports from Kazakhstan for the above period fell by 7.4 percent to $8.17 billion.
The main share of imports is occupied by passenger cars (4.1 percent), medicines (3.3 percent), telephones (3 percent), bodies for motor vehicles (2.5 percent), and parts and accessories for motor vehicles (1.9 percent).
Notably, Kazakhstan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $20.4 billion from January through February 2024. This is 2.9 percent lower than the same period in 2023.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's foreign trade turnover was $139.8 billion from January through December 2023, up 3.2 percent from 2022.
At the same time, exports totaled $78.6 billion (in nominal terms, 7 percent less than the same time in 2022), and imports grew by 20.1 percent, totaling $61.1 billion.
