ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 31. Kazakhstan's KTZ Express and China's Lianyungang Port Group Co. will build a container hub in the port of Aktau (Kazakhstan), Trend reports.

This topic was discussed during a meeting between KTZ Express General Director Damir Kozhakhmetov and the management of the Chinese port.

The parties noted that the container hub will create an infrastructure to provide a range of services for processing and shipping container cargo in various directions through the port of Aktau, as well as create container flow and services for the countries of the Caspian region and Central Asia.

In turn, the Chinese side noted the importance of implementing the project as part of the One Belt, One Road initiative.

This project will also give new impetus to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor (TITR, or Middle Corridor), as well as strengthen trade and economic cooperation in the region.

Due to its geographical location, the container hub in Aktau has become a key center for receiving cargo and ensuring its distribution in various transport directions, including the North-South and Trans-Caspian corridors.

Notably, KTZ Express, together with Lianyungang Port Group Co. implemented two projects in the field of transport logistics: Dry port of Khorgos and the terminal in the port of Lianyungang, which play an important role in optimizing logistics processes both between the two countries and when sending goods in transit through Kazakhstan.

The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route that connects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in the region. It is an alternative route to the traditional Northern Corridor and Southern Corridor.

The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passes through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.

The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects the eastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing the longer maritime routes.
