ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 14. The multinational PepsiCo Corporation is preparing to invest $160 million in the construction of a salty snack plant in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
According to the government of Kazakhstan, the plant will be the largest project in Central Asia, and its launch is scheduled for 2026
The production capacity of the plant will amount to 16,000 tons of finished products per year, with a possible increase to 21,000 tons by 2027.
Furthermore, in general, the finished products of this plant will be supplied to the Central Asian market and beyond.
It is planned to attract up to a thousand people at the construction stage, and about 350 qualified specialists will work at the plant on a permanent basis.
Meanwhile, PepsiCo Corporation plans to purchase up to 50,000–66,000 tons of potatoes from Kazakhstani farmers between 2026 and 2030, with negotiations already underway and an aim to increase volumes subsequently.
