ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 15. Kazakhstan's Air Astana will launch a direct flight on the route Almaty – Phu Quoc – Almaty, Trend reports.

Direct flights to Phu Quoc will be operated by an A321LR aircraft. Flights will begin on October 28, 2024, twice a week - on Mondays and Wednesdays, with a subsequent increase in frequencies to four times a week from December.

"The new destinations are part of the airline's ongoing efforts to expand its route network and meet customer needs. We are confident that this new destination will become popular among our passengers," said Yerbolat Baisalykov, senior vice president for revenue management and commercial planning of Air Astana.

In 2023, Kazakhstan and Vietnam signed an agreement on mutual exemption from visa requirements for citizens.

This intergovernmental agreement will allow citizens of Kazakhstan and Vietnam to stay on the territory of the other country without a visa for 30 days from the moment of crossing the border and up to 90 days within three months.

Meanwhile, the total number of passengers carried by Air Astana reached 4 million, with a constant average load factor of 82 percent from January through June 2024.

Thus, compared to the same period in 2023, the number of passengers carried increased by 14.6 percent, and the average load factor decreased by 0.7 percent (in the first half of 2023: 82.7 percent).
