Kyrgyzstan’s Government refutes rumors about sale of Naryn lands to China

Kyrgyzstan's Government refutes the rumors played up in the society about sale of Naryn oblast lands to China. The statement was voiced Monday at the press conference by the Prime-Minister Daniyar Usenov, News Agency "24.kg" reported.

"We are not going to reconsider the Kyrgyz-Chinese border, Daniyar Usenov noted. Demarcation process is complete. We know who is speculating the information about sale of lands. Remember Karkyra. Kyrgyzstan obtained thousand hectares of disputable lands, and Kazakhstan - around 400 hectares. Now we are having demarcation process. There are no disputable lands with Kazakhstan. Nowadays we have many undocumented lands of boundaries with Uzbekistan. We have not negotiated with Uzbekistan in this sphere for the last five years. In December, during my visit to Tashkent, I had a meeting with Uzbekistan's President Islam Karimov. We agreed to resume the process in April 2010. We will not give them even a square meter of land. We will look for a compromise on disputable lots, but without damage for our country".

Daniyar Usenov noted that the rumors about sale of lands appeared in connection with the China transit railway construction project. In KR it will connect Torugart and Uzgen. The length of the site is over 380 kilometers. 95 tunnels and over 60 bridges will be built on the site.

"Many people interested where the customs will be located, Daniyar Usenov said. Back during the premiership of Igor Chudinov the government assigned to investigate the lands with the height of less than 3 thousand meters in order to simplify the lives of people. And now somebody is saying that we want to sell lands till this site and move the border inward the country".

The Prime-Minister also informed that the Kyrgyz party has been insisting on placement of a transshipment station in Kara-Suu town in the territory of KR. There, goods delivered by narrow-gauge railway will be transferred to wagons adjusted for movement on broad-gauge railway. From this settlement we are supposing to build a railway spur to the north of the country.
