Kyrgyz Ombudsman Tursunbek Akun has today stated that the parliament wants to disrupt a forum on human rights defenders to be held in Issyk-Kul province on Oct.27-29, 2011, 24.kg news agency reported.
Akun said MPs deliberately create supervisory commissions to remove him from the office. They seek to block the Human Rights Institute's activities prior to the presidential elections, he said.
"Ombudsmen from Europe and Asia are expected to attend the forum and follow the elections, as international observers. However, the parliament will not gain anything by their independent evaluation of future events," Akun said.
Earlier MP Tursunbay Bakir uulu said two parliamentary commissions, special and interim ones, checked the activity of Akun during the last three months.
"Parliamentarians revealed that Akun violated the oath, discharged his liabilities improperly, illegal dismissals took places," Bakir uulu said.
The presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan are scheduled for Oct. 30, 2011.
