BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 1. The cost of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP construction in Kyrgyzstan increased, said the Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov, Trend reports via Kyrgyz media outlets.

At the first meeting of the second session of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament of Kyrgyzstan) on September 1, Japarov noted that in 2014, according to a feasibility study, the cost of construction of Kambar-Ata-1 HPP was estimated at $3 billion.

"Now, due to increase in prices on building materials, we need from $5 to $6 billion. To accumulate such money, amendments to a number of bills are needed,” the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said.

As reported, Kambar-Ata-1 HPP will be built on the Naryn River in the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan.

According to preliminary estimates, the height of the dam will be 256 meters, and the volume of accumulated water - 5.5 billion cubic meters. The capacity of the HPP will be 1,860 megawatts, generating 5 billion kWh of electricity per year.
