Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan plan to increase trade turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye intend to increase mutual trade turnover by up to $2 billion, Trend reports via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

The issues of intensifying trade, economic and investment cooperation in order to further increase trade turnover between the two countries were discussed during the meeting of the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Temir Sariev, with the President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, in Ankara, on February 1.

The sides also considered matters of the opening of new trading houses, as well as providing assistance to entrepreneurs of both countries in establishing contacts by conducting business forums and meetings.

As part of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on the exchange of experience between the Chambers of Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye. They decided to organize the program on professional development for employees of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kyrgyzstan, as a part of its reform.

During his visit to Türkiye, Sariev and a number of other Kyrgyz entrepreneurs took part in the international exhibition of agriculture, horticulture, and livestock, «AGRO EXPO 2023» held in Izmir.

According to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, trade turnover between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan rose from January through November last year, up to $566.6 million or 49.3 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
