BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. Kyrgyzstan exported 6,173 tons of potato from January through February 2023, which is 17.5 percent less than in the same period of 2022 (7,485 tons), Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

The value of the exports amounted to $890,200, decreasing by nearly 50 percent compared to $1.7 million in 2M2022.

During the period under review, Kyrgyzstan exported potatoes to three countries: Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

The largest share (71.2 percent or 4,400 tons) of potatoes from Kyrgyzstan was sent to Uzbekistan. While 1,693 tons were exported to Kazakhstan and 80 tons to Russia.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan exported 49,300 tons of vegetables and root crops from January through February 2023, which is 14 percent less than in the corresponding period of 2022. The value of the exports amounted to $18.9 million, decreasing by 25 percent compared to 2M2022.

Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover amounted to $1.7 billion from January through February 2023, which is an increase of 22.7 percent year-on-year ($1.3 billion in the same period of 2023).

Kyrgyzstan’s exports exceed $255.6 million, which is 2 percent more than $250.2 million in the corresponding months of 2022.

The imports to Kyrgyzstan exceeded $1.4 billion, which is a growth of 27.2 percent year-on-year ($1.1 billion from January through February 2022).
