Kyrgyzstan's gas imports rise

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 6. Kyrgyzstan’s natural gas imports reached 177.723 million cubic meters from January through April 2023, which is a 6.1 percent increase compared to the same period the previous year (167.497 million cubic meters), Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of the country, the value of these imports amounted to $28.944 million, reflecting a 15.2 percent growth compared to the period from January through April 2022 ($25.124 million).

The data reveals that two countries supplied natural gas to Kyrgyzstan during this period: Russia exported 157.459 million cubic meters, while Uzbekistan exported 20.263 million cubic meters.

Import volume from Russia experienced a year-on-year increase of 5.3 percent, while imports from Uzbekistan rose by 12.5 percent.

The total value of natural gas imports from Russia reached $25.905 million, and from Uzbekistan, it amounted to $3.039 million.

In 2022, Kyrgyzstan imported a total of 415 million cubic meters of natural gas, valued at $62.2 million. Of this, 371 million cubic meters, worth $55 million, were imported from Russia, while Uzbekistan supplied 43 million cubic meters, valued at $6.5 million.
