BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 25. The volume of brown coal (lignite) production in Kyrgyzstan from January through July 2023 reached 1.393 million tons, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of the country, the figure increased 14.4 percent compared to the same period in 2022 (1.218 million tons).
Brown coal production in July alone amounted to 126,500 tons, which is a year-on-year increase of 33 percent.
Moreover, a total of 306,600 tons of black coal were produced in Kyrgyzstan from January through July 2023, which is a 5.1 percent growth compared to the same period in 2022 (291,900 tons).
Black coal production in July 2023 experienced an annual growth rate of 50.8 percent, reaching 55,400 tons.
During the period under review, industrial production in Kyrgyzstan totaled nearly 246 billion soms ($2.7 billion), decreasing 1.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Kyrgyzstan produced a total of 3.6 million tons of brown and hard coal in 2022, which is 20 percent more than in 2021.
