BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 2. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has had a loan portfolio in Kyrgyzstan worth 179 million euros, allocated across 78 active projects, as of September 30, Trend reports.
Among these projects, the majority of funding, 71 percent or 127 million euros, is directed towards sustainable infrastructure, while 15 percent, equivalent to 27 million euros, is allocated to industry, commerce, and agriculture. Additionally, financial institutions receive the remaining 14 percent, totaling 24 million euros.
Compared to the figures from July 31, the only change is in the amount of investments allocated to financial institutions, which has increased from 23 million euros (13 percent of the portfolio) in the previous period.
In total, the EBRD's cumulative investments in Kyrgyzstan amount to 915 million euros across 231 projects, as of September 30.
The EBRD contributed 41 million euros in Kyrgyzstan in 2022, the country's biggest funding amount since the EBRD gave it 46 million euros in 2019.
The EBRD has been engaged in cooperation with Kyrgyzstan since 1992. The bank's efforts in the country are centered around promoting sustainable growth, supporting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), enhancing the sustainability of public utilities, and strengthening the financial sector.
