Kyrgyzstan's cargo transportation increases in January 2024

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 5. Cargo transportation in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 4.022 million tons in January 2024, which is an increase of 164,300 tons, or 4.3 percent, compared to January 2023, Trend reports.

Data released by Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates a decrease of 11 percent in comparison to December 2023 figures.

The bulk of the transported goods, totaling 3.213 million tons, were carried by road transport, while railway transportation accounted for 749,900 tons, pipeline transportation for 57,800 tons, and air transportation for 500 tons. Over 74 percent of the cargo transportation was handled by individual entrepreneurs.

The growth in cargo transportation volumes was observed across all transportation modes and regions of the country, except for the Talas region. Notably, the majority of cargo transportation, amounting to 1.268 million tons, was carried out in the capital city, Bishkek.

In January 2024, the total cargo turnover for all transportation modes in Kyrgyzstan reached 296.4 million ton-kilometers, marking an increase of 46.9 million ton-kilometers, or 18.8 percent, compared to the previous year.
