BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 13. Consumer prices in Kyrgyzstan rose by 1.4 percent from January through April compared to the end of December 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 4.1 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.9 percent, non-food items by 0.2 percent, and tariffs for services provided to the population by 3.3 percent.
The most significant increases during this period were observed in the prices of fresh fruits (up by 9.4 percent), fish (up by 5.8 percent), salt (up by 4.8 percent), eggs (up by 3.7 percent), cheese (up by 3.2 percent), non-alcoholic beverages (up by 3 percent), potatoes (up by 1.9 percent), fresh vegetables (up by 1.3 percent), flour (up by 1.1 percent), and fresh meat (up by 1.0 percent).
Additionally, prices decreased for buckwheat (down by 11.1 percent), milk (down by 4.7 percent), beef liver (down by 4.1 percent), animal fats (down by 3.7 percent), vegetable oils (down by 3.5 percent), and sugar (down by 1.1 percent).
The increase in consumer prices and tariffs during the reporting period was observed in all regions of the county except for Jalal-Abad, where there was a decrease of 0.7 percent. The highest price increase (2.1 percent) was recorded in the Talas region, driven by the highest increase in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices (up by 2.2 percent) compared to other regions.
