By Seba Agayeva - Trend: Around 96.5 per cent of Tajikistan's citizens temporarily residing in Azerbaijan voted for Tajikistan's acting President Emomali Rahmon in the country's presidential elections, Tajikistan's diplomatic mission in Baku told Trend on Nov.7.

In total, some 86 people voted at the polling station set up in Tajikistan's embassy in Baku. Voter turnout was 89.6 per cent for the elections held yesterday in Tajikistan.

The Central Commission on Elections and Referendum of Tajikistan announced the preliminary results of the presidential election in the country.

These indicated that the candidate from the Party of Economic Reform Olimjon Boboev amassed 140,733 or 3.8 per cent of the votes, the head of the Central Commission on Elections and Referendum of Tajikistan Shermuhammadi Shohiyen told journalists.

According to the commission's head, the candidate from the Agrarian Party, Tolibbek Bukhoriev had 166,224 or 4.5 per cent of the votes, the candidate from the Socialist Party Abduhalim Gafforov - 54,148 or 1.5 per cent of the votes, the candidate from the Democratic Party Saidjafar Ismonov - 36,572 or 1 per cent of the votes and candidate from the Communist Party Ismoil Talbakov gathered 181,500 or five per cent of the votes.

"The candidate from the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan, the country's acting leader Emomali Rahmon gathered 3.23 million or 83.6 per cent of votes. This means that Emomali Rahmon was declared the elected President of Tajikistan by the Central Commission on Elections and Referendum of the country," he said.
