BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. Tajikistan revealed the total volume of its vegetable production as of August 19, Trend reports via the Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan.
According to the Ministry, today the total volume of Tajikistan's vegetable production amounted to 983,635 tons:
- 428,940 tons of onions;
- 197,714 tons of tomatoes;
- 108,358 tons of cucumbers;
- 102,248 tons of carrots;
- 42,845 tons of cabbage,
- 103,730 tons of other vegetables.
Moreover, Tajik farmers have collected 243,224 tons of potatoes to date.
Tajikistan is a highly agrarian country, with 45.7 percent of the population working in agriculture, which accounts for 22.6 percent of the country's GDP.
