DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 31. A total of 88,089 migrants arrived in Russia from Tajikistan in the first half of 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the Russian Federal Service for State Statistics (Rosstat) indicates that there was an increase of 4,020 people arriving from Tajikistan from January through June 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.
At the same time, the number of emigrants from Russia to Tajikistan amounted to 40,303 people, which is 18,122 fewer than the figure for the analogous period in 2022 (58,425 people).
As a result, the net migration gain for Russia stood at 47,786 people, which is 22,104 higher than that in January–June 2022 (25,682 people).
The number of migrants relocating to Russia during the first half of 2023 decreased by 29,600 people, or 1.9 percent, compared to the previous year. Despite this, Russia continues to experience a net migration increase in its population.
The number of individuals departing from Russia decreased by 216,600 people, or 51.7 percent year-on-year. This decline is attributed to both emigrants moving to CIS member states (a decrease of 51.7 percent) and those leaving for distant foreign countries (a decrease of 51.5 percent).
