DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 28. The Government of Tajikistan plans to attract approximately $7.3 billion for the development of its transportation infrastructure, Deputy Minister of Transport, Farrukh Nematzoda, said during a seminar organized by the ministry in collaboration with the World Bank (WB), Trend reports.
He also noted that to further develop the country's transportation system, including the construction and complete reconstruction of road networks, tunnels, and bridges, Tajikistan's government has secured investments totaling $2.2 billion.
Additionally, seminar participants discussed topics such as the reform of road asset management in accordance with international standards and the enhancement of practices for maintaining road infrastructure.
The event was conducted as part of the implementation of the fourth phase of the Central Asia Regional Links program, initiated by the regional governments with support from the WB. This initiative supports the restoration of the regional road network, connecting communities and economic hubs across different countries in the Fergana valley.
As of the beginning of October 2023, the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan has executed 12 investment projects totaling $1.052 billion under grant agreements. Among these, seven projects are in the implementation phase, while five projects have been completed and are in the warranty period.
