DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 1. Approximately 73 percent of Asian Development Bank (ADB) ongoing projects in Tajikistan in 2023 included measures to mitigate the impact of climate change or adapt to it, Trend reports.

According to the bank, these measures encompassed the development of climate-resilient infrastructure, green buildings, energy efficiency, early warning systems, tree planting, and more.

Last year, ADB allocated a record amount of $9.8 billion in climate financing from its own resources for the Asia-Pacific region, with $5.5 billion for mitigation and $4.3 billion for adaptation–an increase of over 46 percent compared to ADB's climate financing in 2022.

In total, ADB has provided over $10.4 billion in adaptation financing from 2019 to 2023, surpassing its $9 billion target for the years 2019–2024 a year ahead of schedule. ADB aims to provide $100 billion in climate financing from its own resources between 2019 and 2030.

In line with the bank's partnership strategy with Tajikistan for 2021-2025, ADB's operations in the country focus on three strategic priorities: supporting structural reforms to enhance resource distribution and mobilization, improving labor productivity through human capital development, and contributing to the improvement of living conditions through strategic investments.
