President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed decrees on appointments in the agro-industrial complex on Tuesday, an official Turkmen source said today.
Merdan Bayramov has been appointed Minister of Agriculture; Hakmyrat Annamyradov - chairman of state concern "Turkmencotton".
Charygeldi Charlyev headed the association of joint stock companies for production and maintenance of agriculture "Turkmenagroservice"; Yeldash Ashyrov - Association of Bread "Turkmengallaonumleri" and Veli Veliyev - Association of food industry.
Earlier this year, Mr Berdimuhamedov expressed dissatisfaction to curators of the agricultural industry over low results in the agricultural sector.
"Despite the fact that the state shows constant concern for the systematic development of domestic agro-industrial complex, takes extensive measures to improve working conditions of peasants, strengthen and modernize material and technical basis of the industry, there is no proper dynamics in the development of agro-industrial complex, the Turkmen leader said at that time.
Turkmenistan is preparing fields and agricultural machinery for spring sowing of cotton and other crops, agricultural activities are carried out to care for winter crops.
Turkmenistan procured more than 1.050 million tons of raw cotton in 2011, this year's it has similar plans. Traditionally, the country exports it to China, Russia, Britain, South Korea, Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, Singapore, Ukraine and the Baltic countries.
Some 860,000 hectares of fields have been sowed in the country, from which it is planned to harvest 1.6 million tons of food grains in 2012.
