Deputy PM for international affairs appointed in Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has appointed Rashid Meredov as deputy PM and foreign minister, the Turkmen government said on Saturday.

"Having expressed to the Head of State his sincere gratitude for the high trust, the newly appointed deputy prime minister, head of the Foreign Ministry assured the Turkmen leader that he will make all his strength, knowledge and experience in order to further the successful implementation of foreign policy of independent neutral Turkmenistan, the well-being and prosperity of his beloved homeland, "- said in a statement.

As Berdimuhamedov pointed out at the government meeting initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan constantly find full support and recognition of the UN.

"The solution of problems related to the implementation of a neutral foreign policy of Turkmenistan requires a considerable effort from all employees of the diplomatic service, their efficiency and careful monitoring of all events taking place in the world" - said the Turkmen leader.

According to him, among the priority issues of concern to humanity today - the union of efforts to determine the main directions of global security, the principles of voluntary renunciation of the use of force to resolve disputes, enhance the joint fight against terrorism and organized crime, human trafficking and illegal trafficking in narcotic drugs.

"Among the recent issues are those of creating the most favorable conditions for a peaceful and stable development of neighboring Afghanistan, forming a system of global energy security, as well as many others," - Turkmen leader said.
