President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov demanded that all necessary measures are taken to prevent road accidents, including strict enforcement of traffic rules - both by drivers and pedestrians, improve the culture of driving, behavior on the roads, Turkmen state news agency reported on Saturday.
"In the rush hour traffic jams are common, which creates inconvenience for residents and increases the risk of accidents," the information said.
The Turkmen leader said that "given the growing intensity of traffic in the capital, it's necessary to solve the problem of its organization, management and optimization based on the most modern methods".
In particular, the President gave specific instructions on creating the right conditions for people so that they will be able without being late, to get in time to work, study, as well as if necessary to increase the number of bus stops in Ashgabat.
Relevant departments were instructed to take measures for the construction of additional road junctions at the crossroads of several major highways of the capital, underground passages, traffic control system modernization, due to a significant increase in the number of vehicles.
"In the case, please consider the possibility of expanding the roadway, which will relieve traffic flows. Given that in our country, concern for people is the basis of public policy, and the fact that the number of vehicles and pedestrians will further increase in the capital in the future, the main requirement today is the rapid development of transport infrastructure," said Berdimuhamedov.
In addition, referring to the tasks of ensuring the protection of the environment, the president emphasized the need to further improve the quality of gasoline.
