Turkmen president instructs to take cotton campaign under special control

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a working meeting demanded that all issues related to providing the participants of the cotton harvesting with the necessary resources be resolved in a timely manner, Trend reports via a Turkmen TV channel.

Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev presented his report on the progress of seasonal agricultural work.

The Turkmen president drew attention to the fact that all material and technical resources should be used rationally and effectively in order to fully collect raw cotton from the fields.

Speaking about the importance of scientifically based crop rotation schemes, the introduction of modern farming technologies, including the cultivation of cotton, the president noted that in the coming year it is planned to increase the area of ​​land allocated for cotton, the Turkmenistan State News Agency reported.

This year, 550,000 hectares have been allocated for cotton in the country, and it is planned to harvest 1,050,000 tons of raw cotton. In Turkmenistan, cotton production is planned to be raised to 1.25 million tons next year.

Private agricultural producers who have received plots from a special land fund began to cultivate cotton in 25,567 hectares of land.

Cotton is a significant export item of Turkmenistan, while it is currently a highly demanded raw material for the country’s rapidly developing textile industry.
