BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 22. Farmers of the Sayat district of the Lebap region of Turkmenistan have collected about 185 tons of silkworm cocoons this season, Trend reports.
According to the official source of Turkmenistan, the farms of the district have fully fulfilled the production plan for collecting silkworm cocoons this season.
In general, the Lebap region collected 1,060 tons of silkworm cocoons this year, which is 4.95 percent more than the planned volume (1,010 tons).
Silk is one of the most important agricultural products grown in Turkmenistan. The main silk production regions in the country are Mary, Ahal and Lebap regions.
One of the leading enterprises of the sericulture industry of Turkmenistan is the Ashgabat Silk Factory and the Turkmenabat Silk Production Association.
