ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 24. Turkmenistan and the International Labor Organization (ILO) are interested in further expanding cooperation this year, Trend reports.
According to an official source, this interest was expressed during the meeting between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Beate Andres.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of the last visit of the ILO delegation to Ashgabat, in particular, the high-level round table on February 21, 2024.
At the same time, they considered the issues of strengthening the legal framework by joining the ILO conventions, increasing the capacity of national specialists, ensuring constant dialogue between social partners and preparing for upcoming events with the ILO, in particular the International Labour Conference.
Furthermore, the parties discussed the proposal of the Turkmen side to delegate a representative of this organization to Ashgabat to coordinate work and regular dialogue with the Government of Turkmenistan.
Meanwhile, the International Labor Organization is a specialized UN agency dealing with the regulation of working relations, the expansion of decent employment opportunities, the strengthening of social protection and the development of dialogue on issues related to the sphere of work.
