The sixth meeting of the joint Czech-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technological Cooperation will be held in Prague on Dec. 3-4, 2012, the Czech Embassy in Uzbekistan said today.
The Czech delegation will be led by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Milan Hovorka, whilst the Uzbek delegation will be headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Akmal Kamalov, the report said.
The agenda includes discussing cooperation issues in trade, economy and investments.
Moreover, attention will be paid to the possibilities of mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of energy, renewable energy sources, environmental protection, pharmaceutical industry, food industry and the cooperation prospects in the fields of transport and tourism.
Economic relations between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic are regulated by intergovernmental agreements on trade, economic and scientific and technical cooperation, mutual protection and promotion of investments as well as double taxation avoidance.
Around 13 Uzbek-Czech joint ventures operate in Uzbekistan.
Several Czech leading firms and companies opened their representative offices in Uzbekistan. They work in such areas as food, textiles, oil and gas, production of plastic products and tourism.
