Tashkent holds effective meeting of heads of governments of SCO member-states

The recent twelfth meeting of heads of governments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member-states has been effectively held in Tashkent. The signed documents will contribute to further development of the practical cooperation between the member-states, the participants stressed.

The recent twelfth meeting of heads of governments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member-states has been effectively held in Tashkent. The signed documents will contribute to further development of the practical cooperation between the member-states, the participants stressed.

The Council of Heads of Governments considered the wide range of tasks set at the last Council meeting, in particular the development of relations between the member-states in trade-economic, scientific-technical, socio- cultural, humanitarian and transport sectors.

The Heads of Governments approved the SCO Secretariat's report on the implementation of the program of multilateral trade and economic cooperation among the member-states of the organization for 2012-2016 and its budget for 2014.

The participants appreciated the activity of the Business Council and SCO Interbank Association and recommended to intensify the cooperation on the development of the project activity within the organization by establishing direct contacts between business circles and financial bodies of SCO member-states.

The importance of resolving the issues of improving the quality of life, employment, reducing the unemployment and partial employment, especially among young people was stressed.

The business circles' initiatives on establishing the joint high-tech and innovative spheres in the various areas of the economy were approved.

The Heads of Governments also stressed the need to strengthen a dialogue and to expand the financial and banking cooperation to promote the socio- economic development of all SCO member-states, intensify the regional trade-economic and investment cooperation and enhance the role of the region in the global economy.

The priority of strengthening the multilateral cooperation in the transport sector and the development of international transport corridors was approved at the meeting.
