Uzbekistan reveals inflation rate in consumer sector for Jan. 2021

Inflation rate in Uzbekistan in January 2021 amounted to one percent, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, services increased the most in price - by 1.4 percent, food products - 1.2 percent, non-food products - 0.5 percent.

In January 2021, the prices for fruits and nuts (3.2 percent), vegetables, plantains (vegetable bananas) and legumes (2.3 percent) among the main food and non-alcoholic beverages rose more than others over the month due to the influence of the seasonal factor.

As for fruit and vegetable products, prices increased for bell peppers and grapes (8.6 percent), as well as for pomegranates (8.2 percent).

Among the main food products, process for buckwheat (1.5 times), eggs, vegetable oils, lamb (1.3 times), sugar, beef (1.2 times), fresh milk (by 18.4 percent), flour (by 14.9 percent), rice of all sorts and rice chaff (by 14.1 percent) have significantly increased.

The monthly consumer price index (CPI) for housing services, water, electricity, gas and other fuels in January 2021 was formed under the influence of an increase in tariffs for water supply services (1.6 times) and fees for garbage collection (0.7 percent), as well as in connection with an increase in prices for materials for the maintenance and repair of residential premises (0.4 percent), services for the maintenance, repair and protection of residential premises (0.2 percent).

In annual terms, medicine and medical products became more expensive by 13.8 percent, outpatient and inpatient treatment services - by 13.5 percent and 7.8 percent, respectively, diagnostic imaging and medical laboratory services (15.2 percent).

The CPI in the transport sector was largely in January 2021 formed under the influence of the rise in the cost of maintenance and repair of personal vehicles (2.2 percent), the rise in gasoline prices (2.1 percent), an increase in the cost of travel in an intercity bus (2.6 percent), as well as an increase in prices for air tickets on international traffic and railway tickets for long-distance trains (1.0 percent).

In annual terms, the highest price growth was recorded for air passenger transport services (28.7 percent).

In addition, the highest price increase in the restaurants and hospitality sector was recorded for the services of recreation centers, campgrounds, youth hostels and similar hotel services (14.3 percent).

Prices also increased for services of hotels, motels and similar hotel services (2.3 percent), prepared food in canteens (1.1 percent) and cafes (0.9 percent). In annual terms, the maximum increase in prices was noted for the services of recreation centers (21.8 percent).

Among household goods and services, the prices for hairdressing services rose more significantly than others (1.6 percent). Personal appliances and goods became more expensive by 0.6 percent over the month, jewelry, wrist and similar watches - by 0.2 percent and watch repair services - by 1.5 percent.
