Uzbekistan, FAO in talks over rational use of water and land resources

Uzbekistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) discussed interaction in the areas of modernization and diversification of agriculture, rational use of water and land resources, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The mentioned issues were discussed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov and Director General of the FAO of the United Nations Qu Dongyu during videoconference.

The parties highly appreciated the level and dynamics of mutual cooperation and discussed mechanisms for implementing the results and recommendations of the 32nd meeting of the Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia, which took place in November 2020 under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan.

Special attention during the meeting was paid to practical issues of promoting the effective chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the European Regional Conference in 2021-2022, as well as enhancing the participation of Uzbekistan in international and regional initiatives in the field of agriculture and food.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and improve nutrition and food security.

The FAO is headquartered in Rome, Italy and maintains regional and field offices around the world, operating in over 130 countries. It helps governments and development agencies coordinate their activities to improve and develop agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and land and water resources. It also conducts research, provides technical assistance to projects, operates educational and training programs, and collects data on agricultural output, production, and development.
