S. Korean Eximbank accelerates preparations for creation of pharmaceutical cluster in Uzbekistan

The consultants of the Eximbank of Korea work on the completion of the design and technical documentation for the implementation of the project on the creation of a pharmaceutical cluster in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in South Korea.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul participated in negotiations via videoconference between representatives of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT) of Uzbekistan and the Director of the Department of Projects of the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the Eximbank of South Korea Ha Won-suk.

The negotiations were also attended by senior officials of the Tashkent Pharma Park Directorate, as well as the head office and representative office of the Eximbank of South Korea in Tashkent.

The sides discussed the progress of the investment project to create an innovative research and production pharmaceutical cluster Tashkent Pharma Park in the Zangiata district of the Tashkent region.

It was noted that the project is financed from the concessional funds of the EDCF Fund of the Eximbank of South Korea, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan, the Fund for the Support and Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, and foreign direct investment.

Ha Won-suk said that the leadership of the Eximbank of S. Korea was informed about the priority of this project since the pharmaceutical industry is a strategic area of bilateral cooperation. At the same time, the consultants of the Eximbank of Korea are working on the completion of the design and technical documentation in an accelerated manner.

In turn, the Uzbek side noted that this project is being implemented in order to stimulate the comprehensive development of the country's pharmaceutical industry, including by expanding the range of manufactured drugs, conducting research and development, as well as training personnel in the field of pharmaceuticals qualified in accordance with international educational standards.

Also, the Uzbek side announced its interest in the early preparation of bilateral documents for signing and starting practical work on the construction of the corresponding facilities of the Tashkent Pharma Park.
