Starting from the harvest of 2021, the practice of setting purchase prices for grain by the state will be completely abolished in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the National Legal Information Center of Uzbekistan.

It is reported that these measures are being implemented within to the decree on measures for the widespread introduction of market principles in the production, purchase and sale of grain.

Also, state purchases will be completely canceled, and grain produced by farmers and other enterprises will be sold to all consumers, including grain processing enterprises, grain-growing clusters and traders, through exchange trading or on the basis of direct contracts (futures, forward and others) at free prices.

Moreover, the Fund for State Support of Agriculture under the Ministry of Finance, on the basis of futures and forward contracts or through exchange trading at a free price, will buy grain in the amount necessary to implement measures to ensure the stability of prices for grain and grain products in the domestic market.

At the same time, the system for the supply of certified seeds is preserved in order to provide grain-growing farms with high-quality seed material, and in 2021 - 2023, the supply of seeds is gradually assigned to seed clusters and elite seed farms in the structure of the Ministry of Agriculture and grain-growing clusters.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, in 2020, 7,566 tons of grain were produced in Uzbekistan, which is 1.7 percent more than in 2019. A significant part of grain crops was produced by farmers, amounting to 82 percent.

It is reported that the main grain producer in Uzbekistan is Kashkadarya region, where last year 885,700 tons of grain crops were produced - 11.7 percent of the total volume.
