Uzbekistan reveals investment projects to be implemented in Khorezm region

Some 812 investment projects have been formed for a total of $1.3 billion, including 770 regional and 42 sectoral projects for the consistent continuation of the development of the Khorezm region in 2021, Trend reports referring to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

On March 23, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of investment projects that are planned to be implemented in the Khorezm region.

According to the presentation, the implementation of 188 projects was completed, 1,726 jobs were created from January through March 2021 and about 4,000 hectares of land were put into circulation. Also, the construction of a new railway bridge across the Amu Darya has begun.

It is reported that in 2021 in the context of industries, 273 projects are planned to be implemented in industry, 277 - in the service sector, 262 - in agriculture.

“It is expected that these projects will create more than 23,000 jobs and allow the export of goods and services in the amount of $65 million,” the message said.

Thus, 49 projects have been proposed by cotton-textile clusters. As a result, the level of processing of cotton grown in the region will more than double. In particular, the capacity of yarn production will increase up to 104,000 tons, fabric production - to 49,000 tons, ready-made garments - to 152 million units. Such enterprises will be launched this year in Kushkupirsky, Shavatsky, Yangiariksky and Bagatsky districts.

In addition, six projects will be implemented in the automotive industry to produce 100 types of body parts and spare parts. It is noted that these products will replace imports worth $20 million. As a result, the localization rate at the Pitnak plant will rise up to 45 percent.

Moreover, there are 85 projects planned in the building materials industry. Thus, the production of gas blocks, ceramic tiles, drywall in the city of Urgench, wallpaper in the Khazorasp free economic zone will be established. In the same economic zone, it is planned to organize the production of electric motors, and in the city of Khiva - the production of carpets and polypropylene.

In agriculture, work has begun on the widespread introduction of laser leveling and drip irrigation. The goal has been set to bring the yield of cotton to 35 centners per hectare through these measures, and wheat – up to 66 centners of per hectare.

Furthermore, in order to ensure food security and price stability, this year it is planned to grow 151,000 tons of fruits and vegetables more than last year. In addition, 20 projects will be implemented to increase the number of livestock, 24 projects in the field of poultry farming and eight projects in the field of industrial development of fisheries.

Also, projects in the field of tourism, energy, leather production, jewelry, construction were considered during the presentation.
